On the borders of the Hérault, the Réseau Vert® is coming to an end, but there is no room for relaxation either for the legs or for the view. In the midst of the Minervois vineyards, it continues to pass by remarkable historical and heritage sites.

THE NOTRE-DAME-DU-CROS CHAPEL
On 8 September, many pilgrims flock to the "miraculous" spring and to the superb listed site adjacent to this chapel, which was mentioned in the outbuildings of the Abbey of Caunes in 1118. It was altered several times, then rebuilt in the 15th century.

ROYAL QUARRIES
To the north of Caunes-Minervois, marble quarries have aroused great interest since the 17th century. Their red colour, symbol of power, was enough to attract the covetousness of the Sun King, Louis XIV. As for the white veining, it was a perfect expression of royalty. The incarnate quarry became the Carrière du Roy, reserved for the exclusive use of the monarch. Caunes marble can be found in the Grand Trianon in Versailles, in the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, in the Paris Opera House... Today, three quarries are still in operation, thanks to Italian companies.
