Green Way
PASSAPAÏS
An unforgettable adventure in the heart of Haut-Languedoc
An exceptional itinerary between two "countries"
Between Montpellier and Toulouse, the Voie Verte Passapaïs - pronounced "Passopaïs", which means "Passe-Pays" in Occitan, is a true gem of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park. Stretching for about 75 kilometers, this former railway line renovated as a greenway connects Bédarieux in Hérault to Mazamet, in Tarn, for a route that is sometimes Mediterranean, sometimes Atlantic.
A space dedicated to soft mobility
The Passapaïs is a true playground for outdoor lovers and cycling enthusiasts (MTB or bikes adapted to compact sand terrain).
A stage of the Véloccitanie, a route of small pleasures
The Passapaïs is integrated into the Véloroute V84, known as "Véloccitanie", a cycling route of over 200 km linking the Canal du Midi (Seuil de Naurouze, south of Toulouse) to Béziers. An experience not to be missed for cycling enthusiasts looking to make a loop with the Canal du Midi or an alternate route!
A journey through enchanting landscapes
Let yourself be amazed by the scenic diversity of Haut-Languedoc:
- Picturesque valleys of Thoré, Jaur and Orb

5 GOOD REASONS
TO COME ON THE GREEN WAY "PASSA PAIS" :
1 - A limited elevation. The highest point is at about 450 m altitude (Fenille pass - Courniou). A very gentle climb...
However, be careful, near Olargues, the old railway had to be bypassed and the slope may be surprising!
2 - A secured route! outside the road network (except for a few road crossings).
3 - A "rolling" surface! In compacted sand, it is pleasant for bikes with VTC or MTB type tires.
4 - The landscapes! Varied and changing with the seasons, they are filled with viewpoints and fabulous panoramas.
5 - An extensible route! By extending the route on the Vélocctitanie (V84), it is possible to reach the Canal du Midi in Béziers or at the threshold of Naurouze.. 200 km in total that broaden the horizons...
