From the wine-growing plains of the Minervois to the steep slopes of the aiguilles du Caroux (Caroux’s needle), feel free to visit the Gorges d'Héric, the Gorges de la Cesse and du Brian, the Cave named "Le Palais de la Fileuse de Verre" (The Palace of the Glass Spinner) in the village of Courniou or the Marble Cathedral of St Pons de Thomières...

This limestone plateau and the gorges

Olargues and its Castrum

Olargues, classified as one of the "Most beautiful villages in France",
is located on the banks of the river Jaur,
6 km upstream from its junction with the river Orb, in a narrow valley,
in the south of the Monts de l'Espinouse. 

Stroll through its medieval alleys, its castrum and on the Devil's Bridge. 

 

Minerve, the Cathar City


Historic capital of the Minervois,
the city emerges in the middle of the causse,
protected by the deep gorges of the Cesse River and the Brian River
where water has shaped astonishing natural bridges.
In its medieval streets, Minerve keeps in memory the Cathar epic,
which you can learn about in the Hurepel Museum.

The Vineyard Roads 

The small winding vineyard roads
often offer beautiful panoramas of the surrounding mountains such as the Corbières,
the Pyrenees... on the Mediterranean Sea!
There, you will cross different terroirs : limestone soils with a bright white colour, schist soils, etc.

The Voie Verte "Passa Païs"


Whether you need a few hours of travel,
to do some sport or simply to get some fresh air, in the Haut-Languedoc,
you are on the right track!
Discover the landscapes of vineyards, forests, meadows, water, tunnels and Eiffel-type bridges on the Voie Verte,
with its 80km (49,7097 miles), from Mazamet to Bédarieux,
by bike, on foot or even on horseback.

The Canal du Midi


On the Canal du Midi,
the Ognon is a small, sometimes very turbulent river.
Between the Canal du Midi and the garrigues,
the town of Olonzac dynamise the heart of the Minervois
with its great market every Tuesday.

 

 

The Lake of Jouarres

 

An excellent bathing spot! Ideal for a moment of relaxation, in family.
In a natural setting, enjoy a quiet place with its beach and shady pine forest,
near the Port Minervois (Homps) on the banks of the Canal du Midi.
